rooted in the landscape
Ware & Weald was born out of a desire to re-evaluate our relationship with textiles, returning to slow, deliberate craftsmanship grounded in the British countryside.
Each one-of-one artwork is hand sculpted on a vintage knitting machine in my home studio.
the Meaning Behind the Name
Ware & Weald takes its name directly from the landscape it belongs to. Every piece is tailored by me in my home studio along a quiet country road in Ware, Kent. By pairing my immediate surroundings in Ware with The Weald, the historic, forested expanse of the surrounding region, the name reflects a deep commitment to local fibre, plant dyes, and slow, regional craft.
Process & Provenance
We believe that true luxury lies in total traceability and natural character.
Local fibres: We work exclusively with local Kentish wool, celebrating its natural density, variations, and un-dyed warmth.
Foraged dyes: Our colour palettes are derived entirely from nature, using seasonal plants, bark and botanicals gathered directly from the local landscape.
Hand crafted: Every textile is built by hand, resulting in one-off pieces that bring depth and warmth of nature indoors.
To honour the organic nature of the fibres, each textile is housed in custom obchee wood box frames, left completely raw and un-coated to preserve the fine, natural texture of the timber. Designed to protect the organic fibres while giving the three dimensional textures room to breathe, our pieces are created as modern heirlooms for thoughtful interiors.
A dense, sculptural exploration of depth and movement. Crafted entirely from raw loop variations and hand-worked fibre clusters, the surface creates a complex play of light and shadow across its soft, botanical toned surface. This piece is hand-dyed using Ivy from our greenhouse.
